Should We Apply Communicative Approach?

Should we apply communicative approach when it comes to practicing English? Sure, we should, especially if we want to be able to speak without burden and doubt.

The communicative approach (CA) was developed by Robert Langs MD, In the early 1970's. It is a new theory or paradigm of emotional life and psychoanalysis that is centered on human adaptations to emotionally-charged events--with full appreciation that such adaptations take place both within awareness (consciously) and outside of awareness (unconsciously). According to Teaching English, British Council BBC, the communicative approach is based on the idea that learning language successfully comes through having to communicate real meaning. When learners are involved in real communication, their natural strategies for language acquisition will be used, and this will allow them to learn to use the language. Example  Practising question forms by asking learners to find out personal information about their colleagues is an example of the communicative approach, as it involves meaningful communication. Based on my experience as the one who loved practicing English as part of acting,

In my opinion who apply and encourage this method as part of teaching, everyone who really want to encourage themselves in order to be able to speak English soon need to apply it too. Here are the reasons.
  • You won't be bothered by language pattern focus
  • You just can't be passive, that's why you need trigger
  • You make mistakes only at the beginning, soon you can correct them
  • You get used to speaking English because you are doing it
  • You won't think you want to be a linguist, you just want to be able to speak English fluently
Stay tune, we'll tell you more.
